Dermablend Professional is now in Canada!

As a makeup artist, one product which I would see in a lot of kits was Dermablend. I had the opportunity to attend an exclusive launch of Dermablend in Canada! Starting on October 8th, they are now sold exclusively in drugstores.

If you don't know anything about them please know that they're the #1 Dermatologist recommended camouflage brand in the US. Also known for their high pigment content and blendability.

They have been around for over 35 years changing lives by addressing all skin concerns:
  • redness
  • dark circles
  • uneven complexion
  • vitiligo
  • rosacea
  • tattoos
  • scars
  • acne

Even if you don't have any of these issues. This is for anyone who desires full coverage. Brides who have a problem with their makeup running would really benefit from using this product. The line features a good range of powders, foundations and concealers. FYI I'm in one of darkest shades in the line- Cinnamon.  Not sure if this is for you? Think about it this way.. It's dermatologist tested, allergy tested, sensitive skin tested, non-comedogenic, non-acnegenic and fragrance-free.
In other words.. you need to get your hands on this ASAP!

Birchbox Monthly Subscription box is Available in Canada!

Beauty boxes are making a comeback!
Just in time for the holidays.
One of the original beauty box makers is coming  to Canada.

Believe it or not I did not know the FULL hype of Birchbox (originated in 2010) until I went on vacation. I had my Birchbox beach bag and a lady came up to me and asked me if I worked for them. After I said no, she begin to rave about the box. She told me that she had a friend in New York who would order a box for her and send it to her in Canada. She nearly did a cart wheel on the beach when I told her the boxes can now be ordered from Canada.

Let me give you the low down on Birchbox: it's a platform that helps you find the best in beauty and lifestyle products. There is a online shop component and also the option of getting a monthly subscription.

If you choose to subscription option, each month you will get five beauty samples shipped right to your door. The products can range from skincare, perfume or maybe even nail polish. If you find something that you truly love in the box.... Guess what? You can get the full-size version of the sample you got in their online shop.

I should also add that every box comes with a card which details the price of the full-size sample and also gives you a description on what the product is and also how to use it.
Canadians if you're interested in trying out Birchbox you can go to birchbox.ca to try out your first box.

Get Summer Ready: Hair Removal & Foot Care

If you're in Canada ignore the cold right now. Summer is coming! It's a little late but it's better to be prepared ahead of time. I know that you can go to the salon to get all the above done but what about the times when your too busy or strapped for cash. You do it on your own!

Check out these products to help you look fab this summer!

First up is foot care!
This is one of the most commonly ignored parts of the body. No you can not slap on some polish on the toes and call it a day! What about your heels?!?!

Nothing makes more queasy than seeing crusty heels. Yes I said it! I'm being honest. If you can't make it to the salon regularly try Spongeables Pedi-Scrub Foot Buffer Lavender and Tea Tree Oil ($7.99 CAN).
A new patent-pending technology foam-release system with aromatherapy, Pedi-Scrub is a unique blend of glycerin, olive oil, shea butter, tea tree extract with lavender aromatherapy infused into a double sided sponge to exfoliate, smooth and relax your tired feet. Your feet will never feel the same again! Guaranteed for 15+ washes!
To hydrate your heels try Flexitol Heel Magic ($14.99 CAN)!
Flexitol Heel Magic is an innovative new way to hydrate dry, cracked heels and feet. This easy to use, no mess stick format contains a unique blend of emollients and moisturizers including Urea, Shea Butter, Lanolin and Olive Oil in a highly concentrated moisturizing base.
Now on to hair removal!
Hello tank tops! Underarm hair removal is pretty easy with this VEET Underarm Hair Removal Kit.
I love the fact that it's not messy. Apply/remove it with a spatula then apply the gentle finishing cream after.
VEET’s Hair Removal Cream leaves skin feeling smooth and silky-soft for up to one week with no risk of nicks and cuts.
Get rid of that upper lip hair! Try VEET Precision Wax & Care ($16.99 CAN).
Waxing scares me but I can take it in small doses. The cream contains aloe vera which is soothing for your upper lip.
Specially developed for facial hair removal, the easy-to-use tube lets you apply a precise amount of wax exactly where you need it – eyebrows, upper lip, and chin.Pamper your skin afterwards with our Aftercare Cream enriched with Aloe Vera. The result – your skin will be left feeling not just smooth but moisturised too.

If you're a good ole fashioned girl who likes to shave. Try the EOS Ultra Moisturizing Shave Cream ($3.99 CAN)! I personally prefer this nozzle over the typical shaving cream nozzles. Also this formula is not foaming- so it's rich and a little bit goes a long way.
Rich, non-foaming eos shave cream is packed with natural conditioning oils, shea butter and antioxidant vitamins E and C to provide 24 hours of ultra-soothing moisture. It’s so moisturizing, you can shave wet or dry. Plus, it’s enriched with skin protectants to help prevent nicks and razor bumps.
Ladies, I hope this posts helps.
Please let me know if you would like me to do more!

Go Green for Earth Day!

Happy Earth Day ladies!
Did you know it's one the most celebrated environmental event worldwide?

We all have to do our part to sustain the environment. I remember when I use to hear the words like vegan and organic and I thought that meant boring! That's totally not the case now a days. These products have come a long way. You might not even notice but some of the products that you use daily may be fit into one of these categories!

Check out some "green" products that I've tried and are adding to my wish list.

SpaRitual polishes ($12.75 CAN)
Vegan polish brand dedicated to the spa tradition. Vegan ingredients from around the world are used to create this high quality line. This includes organic plant essences and naturally colored formulations free of synthetic dyes.
You would never have known these polishes were vegan. I've tried them in the past and loved the pigmentaton and overall quality of the polishes. Plus they always come out with cool collections that would rival any other brand.

EOS Smooth Sphere Lip Balm in Honeysuckle Honeydew ($3.50 CAN)
Delight your lips with the irresistible flavor of fresh honeydew and with moisture that keeps your lips feeling soft and smooth all day long.
I love the way these balms feel on the lips. Plus they are small enough to fit into your make up bag.

Matrix Biolage (Various prices I have seen are around $26.00 CAN)
One of the star ranges from Biolage is Matrix Biolage Delicate Care, a powerful fade-fighting range that is gentle, sulfate-free, and helps prolong hair's colour vibrancy. Free of silicones, parabens and mineral oil, this fade-fighting formula has a fair-trade complex of acai berry and conditioning argan oil, as well as a UV filter that leaves hair manageable.
I've switched all my shampoos to sulphate-free last year. My scalp is in a much better condition after doing so. This product is on my wish list!

Weleda Skin Food ($21.00 CAN)
Intensely hydrates and cares for the skin. Ultra-moisturizing, pure Lanolin and anti-blemish, organic Pansy nourishes and soothes dry and damaged skin. A precious essential oil blend of lavender, rosemary and sweet orange oil refresh the skin and the senses.
I'm obsessed with anything that involves lavender! Another product on my wish list!

Lush Green FUN mouldable soap ($6.95 for 250g)*
A citrus burst of tangy lime and lemon essential oils that will make you feel refreshed and focused. FUN is a solid, 4-in-1 multi-purpose, mouldable soap-- for your body, hair, bubble bath and fun.
Another great vegan product that I was excited to try out. This is the perfect bar to bring on vacay because it has various uses. For sensitive skin users it has a softening base of corn flour, talc and glycerine. You have got to love a product that you can pronounce all the ingredients!

I like these products because they contain ingredients that I can actually pronounce. Such as Cocoa butter, jojoba, evening primrose essential oils and beewax (in beauty according to ale) and Monoi de Tahiti oil (konakare). It's such a small thing but it's really good to know what you are putting on your hands/lips/face.

Is it just me or do you feel like in the summer everything is perfect. Perfect skin, hair, body.. my list can go on and on. Now I have to work a little harder to make sure that everything is perfect. As a Canadian Beauty Blogger, I compiled a little list of awesome Canadian products which may help you get prepped for the holidays.

Purolator Shipping Tips for Makeup!

I'm always shipping makeup to other countries. Whether it's for a giveaway or a swap, I want the items to arrive safe and in one piece. I usually ship regular mail but now I'm looking for other shipping options. I had the opportunity to speak with Ms. Laurie Weston, National Retail Manager, Purolator Inc about the best way to ship makeup and much more. She gave me a lot of helpful insight that I want to share with you all!

Jenn:
How should I pack my makeup? (box.. parcel..etc)

Laurie:
The best way to package make-up and most women’s all-time favourite - the lipstick - is to ensure it is placed in a small sturdy box with some padding or protective package to minimize movement during delivery.

Here are some other tips you may find useful:

  • Avoid using previously used boxes as these can lose their strength over time.
  • For fragile items, the padding or protective package used should be at least three inches thick.
  • If you are shipping several items together, wrap and cushion each one separately.
  • Avoid using wrapping paper to ship a gift as it can get damaged during the delivery cycle. Instead, try durable shipping paper and boxes available at your local Purolator Shipping Centre.
  • Affix appropriate labels when required: heavy weight, glass and liquid.
  • A strong seal is essential; always use tape that is designed for shipping such as pressure-sensitive tape, nylon or glass reinforced tape. Never use string or elastic bands on the outside of your parcel as it can get caught in our sorting machinery. Seal all box seams with tape and be sure not to leave any open areas which can snag on machinery.
Depending on the amount of make-up you are shipping, I suggest you stop by one of our Purolator Shipping Centres to help you pack it so it’s done right.

Jenn:
What are makeup products that I should not ship?

Laurie:
When it comes to making sure the person on the other end looks and feels glamorous, there are no limits as to what you can ship. As long as it’s packaged properly even the most delicate make-up essentials can travel safely in our system. We’re committed to making sure everyone has the chance to look beautiful!

Jenn:
How to get the best out of my shipping?

Laurie:

Stopping by one our Purolator Shipping Centres is the best solution to getting the personalized service you need; selecting the proper packaging, getting all your questions answered and providing the best solution to your shipping needs is what we do best. Our Shipping Experts are friendly, knowledgeable and ready to assist with even the most unique shipping requirements. Many of our locations are open seven days a week.

Jenn:
How do I ensure that the individual receives my package?

Laurie:
You would want to make sure the shipment is clearly labeled and packaged properly. Retain your Package Identification Number (PIN) for easy tracking of your package. Our shipping system has the ability to email you and the receiver notifications of when the package was shipped and the date and time of delivery. Having peace of mind knowing your shipment is in good hands will leave you with time to focus on the other things on your to-do list that need to get done this holiday season.

Jenn:
Why should I ship with Purolator vs. any other shipping company?

Laurie:
We are committed to making sure all our customers are taken care of and we are committed to getting your packages delivered on time. We believe that customer experience is not just what you say but what you do, and our goal is to get it right the first time. Your package is as important to us as it is to you, we’ll make sure you don’t have to worry once you hand it over. If you have any questions or need assistance, be sure to stop by one of our shipping centres or give us a call at 1-888-SHIP-123. We’re here to help.

Nicole by OPI Modern Family Collection- Bottle Photos

Have you heard that Nicole by OPI is doing a Modern Family Collection?

Nicole by OPI, in partnership with Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products, launches 14 new nail lacquers inspired by ABC’s award-winning comedy, Modern Family. The nail line features shades created to capture the show’s colorful personalities, from a classic taupe named after family patriarch Jay, to a sparkly pink hue fitting for toddler Lily.

Do you want to see sneak peaks of other 2013 collections?

This collection is available January 2013.

I'm loving L'oreal Colour Caresse- Violet Chiffon

I have been receiving a lot of twitter questions about the lipstick that I was wearing in my Ben Nye Post.

It's L'oreal Colour Caresse by Colour Riche - Violet Chiffon
Colour Caresse by Color Riche is formulated with L'Oreal's revolutionary Lightfeel System to deliver a feather-light finish without being sticky or heavy.
I can't believe it took me soooo long to share this with you all.
I've been in love with these line since early this year. L'oreal has always made some of my favorite
lipsticks and the Colour Caresse line is so exception. It was literally LOVE at first swatch.
Violet chiffon is a gorgeous wearable purple. It applies like butter!
Very smooth with a beautiful pigmented finish.
I love lipsticks but sometimes you just need something that is not heavy.
This is definitely what I would look for.
Doesn't matter what skin tone you are it's a universally flattering shade.

IMATS Toronto 2012 Experience + Haul

Another Toronto IMATS has come and gone. As per usual it was a day filled with vloggers, bloggers and beauty lovers! For the second time the venue was at Toronto Congress Centre which is located in Etobicoke. I got there a little bit later in the morning (around 11) and was shocked at the sheer number of people which was there. I came with a direct game plan and didn't stray away from my budget.

First on my list was bdellium tools!  After hearing several bloggers rave about them, I know I had to get a few brushes from the line. Then off to Beauty So Clean and lastly finish off at Face Atelier to see what's new.

This years exhibitor list was much smaller than the earlier IMATS that I have attended.
That didn't stop groves of people from coming out to enjoy the beauty deals and watch the seminars.

Believe it or not, the ATM's on site ALL ran out of money before 2pm!
I was so happy that I traveled with cash.

Check out some pictures that I took of the show on Saturday:
I finally got to see one of my favourite bloggers/MUA Joy from Makeup Junkie.

bdellium tools booth set up.
I was debating whether I wanted the 957 or 958.
I should have just taken both!
If you're squeamish look away!
I couldn't leave without taking a picture. It's actually a replica of a full-sized man.
It was like 5'10! He even had shoes on!!

End result from the Make-up as Art seminar featuring M.A.C. Pro artist Melissa Gibson.
 OCC Skin on display.
Such vivid colors!
Emmy-winning makeup artist Eve Pearl doing a seminar on
How to Turn your Career into a Thriving Business
Last but not least my Haul!

  • Opi Drop it- drying drops+ free nail polish
  • Opi Chipslip
  • Beauty So Clean
  • Mascara shield
  • bdellium studio line brushes in 957 & 949
  • bdellium green bambo series brush set
  • FACE atelier lip glaze in Obsession
Such a small haul but honestly at this moment I have everything I want.
Did you go to IMATS this year?
