Let's Talk: Eye creams?

How do you feel about anti-aging skincare?
I'll admit I don't use it as much as I should. I am blessed to look much younger than my age.
Plus I have good genes from my parents..but going down the line who knows what's in-store for me.

Right now one of my favorites is the philosophy miracle worker which is a anti-aging cleanser and mask that has lactic acid (read about it here) and all that good stuff for my skin.

One thing I know I should be adding to my regimen is eye cream.
I have small little laugh lines but who knows how deep they can get in the next few years.
Maybe it's me.. but I just like to keep my skin care regiment short and quick.

Right now I'm going TRY to add something new.
Kosmea has a product called Apple of my eye cream ($49.99 CAN) that looked interesting.

Kosmea Apple of My Eye Cream is a super-active eye cream, formulated with PhytoCellTec™ and powerful natural actives to leave the skin feeling refreshed, brighter and younger looking.
One of the reasons why I think that I'll be more inclined to use it is because it's a pump with an applicator which means it should be a pretty quick application.

Questions: Do you wear eye cream?
Do you apply it before or after your moisturizer also do you serums?
Let me know in the comment section below.

Before/After: Biore Deep Pore Charcoal Cleanser

Right before Valentine's day, I had a horrible break out.  I don't know if it stress-induced or whatever but it wasn't going away. TIn the beginning of February, I was sent the new Biore deep pore charcoal cleanser ($9.99 CAN).
Skin acting up? Meet Charcoal. The new secret weapon from the Bioré® Skincare Experts. Draw out and trap 2x more dirt and impurities than a basic cleanser with this innovative black cleanser that foams white and rinses clean. Infused with Japanese Skin Purifying Technology, this facial cleanser gives you results after just one use!

Ugh... It's embarrassing to show this image but it's only to show progress.

What's the verdict?
I love it! I'm extremely surprised to see that I get a really good deep cleanse from a product that doesn't have any micro beads in it. Similar to other biore products, after you finish washing your face you do get that tingling feeling. Or the "clean feeling" as my brother calls it. The formula is pretty cool because in the bottle it looks pretty dark but once pumped it's a light grey with little black specs which I assume is the charcoal. Honestly one squirt is all you need.

AFTER SHOT
Clear skin no blemishes.

Vichy Normaderm Hyaluspot

When you go on vacation you can only bring a selected amount of items in your suitcase. I only had 45 pound allowance. One thing I left out was most of my skin care. I made sure to bring makeup wipes, cleanser plus a high spf moisturizer. Although I was only gone for seven days when I came back one side of my face was a mess. It was the perfect time to use my Vichy Normaderm Hyaluspot treatment ($21.00 CDN).
Its advanced formula with hyaluronic acid creates an invisible "bandage effect" on the surface to protect against external agents. Salicylic acid and LHA, recognised dermatological ingredients, act at the source of the imperfections.

The consistency is a gel. I have been using it consistently on and off for two weeks and I really like the quick results. It's non-comedogenic and it does not irritate my sensitive skin.
When my blemishes dries up there is no dark marks after.

Apply directly on the imperfections in the morning and at night on cleansed skin or on top of your moisturizer. If you want to apply makeup on top, wait a few minutes until the skin surface is dry.

Great Read: The 8-Week Healthy Skin Diet

Summer is coming and skincare is at the top of my list. I recently had the opportunity to check out Karen Fisher's book: The 8-Week Healthy Skin Diet.
KAREN FISCHER is a former model, award-winning author, and a nutritionist who believes that the skin’s appearance is one of the main indicators of overall health. For the last decade Karen has helped hundreds of patients gain beautiful skin, and has made it her goal to make nutrition and health interesting and accessible to everyone.
About the book:
What is your skin trying to tell you? The recipe for beautiful skin begins in the kitchen, with foods matched to your specific skin problem and type.
The Healthy Skin Diet is not one-size-fits-all – it’s as unique as you!
Whatever your skin type, whatever your skin condition, you’ll find all the help you need right here. And whether the health of your skin is just okay or out of control, you can be looking fantastic within eight weeks simply by following this holistic, natural approach.
I loved how the book was broken down into different sections. It also has a lot of variety such as interesting facts, questionnaires, case studies & recipes!
Everyone can gain health benefits from following the Healthy Skin Diet because it is a common-sense diet and lifestyle program designed to fit into your life. Because it’s so flexible and easy to follow, you have no excuse not to complete the eight-week diet. It’s an anti-inflammatory eating program that was originally developed for people with eczema and then was discovered to also be highly effective in treating the following skin conditions: psoriasis, rosacea, dandruff, acne, cellulite, hives, premature aging and wrinkles, dull/sallow complexion, bags under the eyes, pigmentation, dark circles under the eyes, hives and dermatitis/contact dermatitis.
It's really important for me to have a book with a variety of recipes. This book has 100 recipes, I am able to find something that works for me without worrying about breaking out. Some recipes are more complex than others. Here is one of the easier recipes:

Mango Ice
*Mangos are rich in vitamin C and make a great frozen desert*
Makes four servings
2 Large ripe mangos, sliced
4 tsp ground flax seeds

  1. Divide the mango slices into four small containers and freeze. Before serving, sprinkle with flax seeds.
This book is definitely a good read if you deal with problems such as food intolerances or poor immunity to colds/flus.

You can purchase this book from any local bookstore or from any online retailer (ie: Indigo, Amazon, etc).
