Gift Ideas: Ole Henriksen Lift & Glow Set

I was so excited to try this kit as Ole Henriksen has been one of my favourite skin care lines since I was a teenager – their On The Go Cleanser cleared up my acne, their POWER Peel™ PRO-strength Microdermabrasion/AHA Peel System taught me about the importance of chemical exfoliation (if you’re a newbie to it, this set is amazing to try it at home, rather than a $300 spa treatment. Pro tip – only use half of the product and double the number of treatments – store the remaining product in an airtight container). I was delighted to see that this set of five products included four that I have not yet tried – and one of my all-time favourite serums.

Ole Henriksen Pure Truth Melting Cleanser (1 oz.): I’m not quite sure I’d use this cleanser as my daily cleanser as the directions state. For starters, the directions instruct the user to use this both morning and night. I wouldn’t recommend using it in the morning unless you have very dry skin, as it leaves a bit of an oily residue – as if you had just applied face oil. At night, I’d use it as the first step of a double-cleanse to remove your makeup, and follow up with your favourite cream or gel cleanser. After using this cleanser, my makeup has dissolved, but there is somewhat of a residue from the essential oils, and my skin does not have the “clean” feeling I’d achieve with a cream cleanser.
Do I like this product? The short answer is yes, I love it – however, more as a pre-cleanse than my one and only cleanser.

Ole Henriksen Truth Serum Vitamin C Collagen Booster (0.5 oz.): This serum has reached Holy Grail levels in my books, as I’ve been using it for years. I have very reactive skin that breaks out in awful, blistery acne if it doesn’t like a product. Despite the potent Vitamin C in this serum, my skin drinks it all up and it really aids with hydration and hyperpigmentation. If you’ve never tried this serum, this kit is a great way to test it out before you commit to the $60 per ounce price tag.

Ole Henriksen Sheer Transformation (1 oz.): This moisturizer is the perfect hybrid for me – not fluid enough to not be hydrating, but not thick enough to clog pores. With ingredients including licorice root and Vitamin C, this moisturizer is perfect for helping to combat hyperpigmentation and dark spots. As well, sugar cane and multifruit AHAs help to exfoliate and even your skin tone over time.

Ole Henriksen Ultimate Lift Eye Crème (0.25 oz.): I have a hard time finding an eye cream I like. Most drug store to mid-level priced products don’t seem to hydrate my under eye area or do anything to improve dark and puffy eyelids, while every product I have tried and adored seems to fall well over the $100 price point. This eye cream is hydrating and absorbs fast enough in order to apply makeup, without skin looking greasy or under-eye concealer becoming slippery.

Ole Henriksen Ultimate Lift Eye Gel (0.25 oz.): This nighttime eye gel works wonders, just like its daytime counterpart. It’s cooling and hydrating, without feeling as if the gel is too thick and is clogging my pores.
