Spiced Beauty:Top 7 of 2010!

  1.  Annabelle Smudgeliners: They come in a variety of colors & there VERY pigmented!
  2. MUFE brow corrector & Smokey Lash: Definitely must haves! Add some gloss to the lips and you have a full look :)
  3. MAC Wicked Ways Lipglass: This is my absolute favorite lipglass of 2010. If it's still available... GET IT!
  4. Fusion of Color Matte Shadows: Fusion of Color mineral powders has Carnauba Wax. So the shadows felt very smooth when applied.
  5. Balmshell Lip Glosses: These are my everyday glosses. They come in several different colors and I put the keychain part on my car keys :)
  6. Revlon Matte Lipstick in Wine Not: This is nothing but pure love. This is the first lipstick that I am comfortable wearing everywhere :)
  7. Sigma Flat Top Synthetic Kabuki F-80: If you want an airbrushed finish, this brush is your best friend!

FOTD: Chocolate Smokey Eyes featuring 28 Neutral Palette

I love brown smokey eyes because their definitely perfect for day and night. I always like to try out looks before I wear them out to an event. This gives me control to eliminate or re-introduce products to make it better :)

I use MUFE as a base because it was waterproof & smudge proof, Annabelle smudgeliner in Oh my Goth, Eve Pearl Blush Trio in dark & MUFE Smokey Lash mascara. This time I used my 28 neutral palette for most of the look.

This palette is definitely going to be one of my traveling palettes. It has a lot of colors that can be used for smokey, neutral & every day looks.

Do you like brown smokey eyes?

NYX Chocolate Mega Shine Lipgloss Swatch in Chocolate

Ive always been an NYX fan but I never tried anything other than the shadows. At IMATS I decided to pick up a few things. One of the first glosses I got was NYX Chocolate Mega Shine Lipgloss in Chocolate.

This lip gloss is scented...so if you don't like scent glosses stay away from this one. Also its very pigmented so a lot goes a LONG way!

Here is a hand & lip swatch:

Since this lippy has a slight frost, It looks amazing with a smokey eye! So far Im satisfied with this gloss and I definitely want to try more.

Would you wear this gloss? Also what other NYX products should I try out?

My Christmas look + Merry Christmas+ NY resolutions

It's Christmas :D

Merry Christmas Spiced Beauty followers & readers!! I can't believe how quickly time flies.. I swear it was January yesterday ..geez. And New Years is just around the corner.. I know I say this all the time but 2011 WILL be better. I will make it better..less negativity and more optimism! I hope you all feel the same :)

Now on to the look. It's super simple but still pretty. If you need a tutorial, click here because I used Annabelle products to get the look. I definetly needed a low maintenance look because Christmas dinner is at our house and like 50 people will be here... that A LOT for a townhouse. So I know I will be helping out.. no time to reapply..lol

I am leaving Ontario to go to Montreal with my BF and 2 friends for New Years.  I have never done anything for NYE before so I'm nervous but excited! I'm sad I cant bring all my makeup but I will be posting my look for you all to see :) Enough of my banter..hahaha.

What was your Christmas look?

Holiday Fun: Alize Gold Passion

Looking for a liqueur to indulge in this holiday? Then look no further than Aliz̩ Liqueur, a French vodka-based liqueur available in five delicious flavors. Whether blended into margaritas, shaken in martinis or drizzled atop champagne, Aliz̩ can stand alone or be beautifully mixed to create unique cocktails perfect for every event Рbig or small.

Since Christmas Dinner was at my house my mom and I were looking for a signature drink. We wanted one that could be consumed alone & mixed. When I received a sample of Alize Gold Passion I knew I had to try something different!

We both have never tried any other color than original (the red one). First thing we did .... we took out the stylish shot glasses and took a shot each LOL
Aren't these the most gorgeous shot glasses you have seen in your life!! My momma has style!

This drink is a definite must try for anyone who loves fruity drinks. Since I'm Jamaican the passion fruit taste brought me straight back to the island <3 Love it!

The mixed drink that we are going with is called the Ball Drop:
2 oz Alizé Gold Passion
1 oz coconut rum
1 oz cranberry juice
Mix and serve over ice in a rocks glass.
Garnish with a lime wedge.

If you want to try it out My girl Erica over at Glamorous Gleam has a great tutorial on how to make it!

Have you ever tried Alize?

Do you prefer palettes or single shadows?

Personally I'm torn.. I love the idea of palettes. Everything in one concrete area! Eg. Daytime..Nighttime. But what I hate is that I never use them...unless I'm going on vacation or to a shoot.

I find myself using more single shadows because its easier to pin point what I want. Eg. MAC swiss chocolate & NYX red bean pie is an amazing combo, so I lug those around with me in my makeup bag.

So my question for you is palettes or single shadows?

New Years: Glitter Nails for only $5.00!

I have become such a nail junkie lately.. I think it`s because I follow several nail blogs. They`re sooo inspirational because they always give me ideas on what to do with high & low end polishes. Also some of them give out dupe information. I love the fact that I can get a Chanel dupe at H&M for a fraction of the cost.. makes me happy!

While shopping at Walmart.. which is a lovely place to get your polish fix :) I came across this gorgeous Sally Hanson Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear Nail Color. In these pictures I layered the glitter over H&M Grey Sky.

This color is called Strobe Light
Strobe light is the best name for this polish because the glitter gives off different colors when the light hits it. I had to take a fuzzy picture (no macro) for you to see how gorgeous it is! Definitely worth the $2.49 price tag.

I got several comments on these nails, so if you try this combo beware because it is a conversation starter....haha.

So there you have it my New Years 2011 nails. Including the H&M polish, they both cost me only $5.00... Also it saves me a trip to the nail salon :)

I will be sharing my New Years dress, hair style, make up, drinks(yum) & festivities with you all this year! So stay tuned :D

Would you wear this nail combo?

Beautyticket.com Haul

I recently won a $50 giftcard from beautyticket.com's twitter giveaway. Since Christmas is around the corner, I decided to spend it all on myself. I was sooo careful to spend exactly enough to not have to pay for shipping....haha. Here is what I got:

I got three China Glaze nailpolishes:
(L to R)
Trophy Wife, Thunderbird & Bad Kitty

I had to get these because they were only $2.79!!

Paula Dorf eye primer in "Deep". I will always be a UDPP girl but sometimes you want something new! I have not tried it out yet but once I do a review will be done :)
The last item is something I have been contemplating for a while! I do have very curly long lashes but I always want more...LOL. I know falses is the easiest way to achieve that but unfortunately I cant apply them on myself.

Sooo I decided to get Lashem growth serum. I was first introduced to this product at the National Women's Show. They had a booth and the employee's there had lashes to die for..men & women.

I will be updating you all on my progress!

Get Barry M into Canada!

I follow several UK blogs and I always envy the BarryM hauls, swatches & FOTDS! I heard from a VERY creditable source that BarryM may be coming to Canada *scream*

That means Canadian girls can be swimming in a pigmented sea of Dazzle Dusts, Nail Paints & Lip Lacquer Crayons!

To make this happen, please join the Get Barry M into Canada group on facebook by clicking LIKE and posting a comment if you have previously tried Barry M make up or have heard about it and would want to see it in Canada.

So my Canadian girls did you like the page yet? Have you tried any BarryM products? If so what is your fav!

FOTD: Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips Blue Eyes

I know I'm not a blue eyed babe but I love the colors in Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips for Blue Eyes palettes. I find myself using this palette far more than any of the other Physicians Formula eye palettes. To really make brown eyes pop, dark blues work the best in my opinion. Check out the swatches of the blue & gold on my skin. Pure love <3
Instead of using the blue on my upper lid, I opted for it on my lower lid as a liner!
Excuse my unamused look on my face..LOL

Eyes:
Blend of Golds & Bronze in the palette.
Mascara:
Annabelle Volumelash.com
Liner:
Eve Pearl Smudgeproof  Liquid Liner
Lips:
Annabelle Volume Lip Plumping Gloss in Cherryoke

Here is a close up of the eye.  As you can see below my bangs are growing out quickly! They were always pretty long but now you can hardly see my makeup..all my hard work!! LOL

I'm going to get them cut to above my lashes this week. So I'll have a pic update to show you soon :)

Have you tried any of these palettes? If so, what do you think of them?

Does Purely Cosmetics Diamond Powder stand up to the test?

I won this product from Enkore at IMATS. I follow Purely Cosmetics on twitter but I have not had the opportunity to try out the products. One of the most popular items from Purely Cosmetics is their Diamond Powder. It is often compared to MUFE HD powder at a fraction of the cost.
Diamond Perfect Finish is a unique product made with real diamonds and a patented diamond complex to create a flawless finish. Your face will have an airbrushed look. With nearly a carat of diamonds in each full sized jar, Diamond Perfect Finish works perfectly for photography and high definition, and is superior in performance to products such as Makeup Forever's High Definition Finishing Powder.
As a WOC, I really have to watch out for powders that will make me ashy.
Scratch that..
Actually this can happen to anyone.
Exhibit A:

First I have applied my favorite HD foundation on the top of my hand

Then I dabbed the powder on my hand.
I did it heavily, so you all can see the finish of the powder.
I used my Sigma F80 to buff in the powder.
This picture is the determining factor to see if it gives me an white cast :|

YES!! Success :) This product will definitely be added to my kit.

Question:
Do you stay away from white powders?
