New Spiced Beauty Contributor: Jessica

The holiday's are coming and I thought it would be a perfect time to get a more content out on the blog. I'm lucky that I found a great contributor. Jessica is no stranger to the blog. She's been reading Spiced Beauty since her PR intern days and I'm excited to welcome her on board.

Check out what Jessica has to say about beauty, blogging & skin care.

Why did you want to contribute to Spiced Beauty?
As a former beauty and fashion blogger, I’ve really missed sharing my love of beauty products with other beauty junkies. Leaving reviews on Sephora and Makeup Alley is no longer cutting it! I’ve been reading Spiced Beauty since my intern days at a Toronto-based beauty PR agency and was excited about the opportunity to contribute!

Favourite Canadian Beauty Brand?
Bite Beauty!

Liquid, pencil or gel eye liners?
Pencil for day, gel for night.

Tip to get the perfect eyeliner?
Lots of patience and Post-It Flags – perfect for tracing a straight line!

Lipsticks or Gloss?
Lipstick, definitely.

My ideal mascara is...
Volumizing and thickening without being clumpy. Too Faced’s Better than Sex Mascara is my Holy Grail right now.

My favourite make up remover ...
She Uemura cleansing oil. I’m one of those anti-face wipe girls and am a religious double-cleanser. This cleansing oil takes off everything from red lipstick to waterproof mascara!

My skin care routine ...
It’s quite minimal lately – I’ve noticed that when I started doing less, my skin cleared up. In the morning, I spritz on thermal water and moisturize with La Roche-Posay Toleraine Lotion. At night, I double cleanse with She Uemura’s Anti-Oxi Cleaning Oil and follow it with Glam Glow’s SuperCleanse – it’s a deep cleaning cleanser that doesn’t irritate my skin or dry it out. I then mix a few drops of Sunday Riley’s Artemis Oil into the same La Roche-Posay moisturizer and call it a night. Twice a week, I exfoliate with Kate Somerville’s ExfoliKate treatment – it’s a chemical exfoliant that works really well to get rid of dead skin cells. Once I’ve exfoliated, I follow with Peter Thomas Roth’s Rose Stem Cell Mask – it’s super hydrating and helps soothe inflamed skin.

Curly or straight hair?
Naturally curly. For years, I’ve straightened it or blown it out, but lately, I’ve been trying to embrace my natural curl.

How many lip products do you have in your purse/makeup bag?
Nine - Nuxe Reve de Miel lip balm, Chanel Rouge Coco Shine Lipstick in “Boy”, NARS Sheer Lipstick in “Dolce Vita”, Dior Addict Fluid Stick in “Ciel Rose”, Buxom Full On Lip Polish in “Dolly” and “Sophia”, Fresh Sugar Lip Balm in “Rose”, NARS Satin Lip Pencil in “Rikugien”, Bite Beauty BB For Lips in “Tawny”. I’m actually a little embarrassed that I carry all this around.
