Baby: Hospital bag must haves

Say goodbye to the days where everything is provided to you in the hospital. (Some) Hospitals provide you with the bare minimum in terms of amenities. You get a bed, washroom and staff that will assist you with getting your bundle of joy out. But did you know that it was your responsibility to bring things like extra linens and pillows to stay comfortable. I totally did NOT!

Here are a few things that you should not forget to pack in your hospital bag for labour.

Baby essentials
After going to baby shows, doing a registry, and trying out samples from multiple brands I decide to go with a brand that I know and love. You can check out my thoughts on LIVE CLEAN here. Wipes, diaper ointment, petroleum jelly Plus my pampers pure diapers.

Under under garments
Don’t let me get started on this one. From my hospital, I had to pay $40 for a postpartum "pack". It did include a lot of things that I needed for my stay. BUT one thing it didn't have was adult diapers. TRUST me when I say it was a major blessing.

Snacks
I went into labor at an odd time- by the time I went into recovery I was told that the lady who brought my food up didn't see me (didn't leave my food) so I didn't have anything to eat right after giving birth. I was pissed! I was happy that I packed a few snacks a week before. Plantain chips, crackers, juice and fruit got me through until my family visited and brought me Tim Hortons!

Lastly...
Comfortable clothes
I hated wearing the hospital garments. I was so happy that I shopped online and bought night gowns for easy access, slippers (my feet were still swollen) and a comfy robe. Whether you are on a 24-48 hour hold- that's your new home. It's important that you're comfortable.
