3 Tips to Get Your Kids Out the Door Faster (From a Mom Who Gets It)

Let’s be real...leaving the house with kids isn’t just “grabbing your keys.” It’s a full-blown production. And while I haven’t cracked the code completely (because toddlers and time management don’t mix).

These three tips have truly made things easier in our house, and they might help in yours too.

Pack the Baby Bag the Night Before
I know, I know. You’re tired. Me too. But taking 10 minutes after bedtime to prep outfits, pack snacks, and stash the essentials makes all the difference. I also set out their clothes in their room (one outfit for my 6-year-old, one for my toddler) and put bags by the door.

Give Them Something to Look Forward To
Let’s be honest...kids don’t move faster just because you’re in a rush. But giving them something to get excited about can speed things up. For example:
“After we get in the car, you can pick a song to play.”
“Once we’re buckled up, you get your snack!”

Create a “Grab and Go” Station by the Door
This was a game-changer. I set up a small basket near the door with must-haves: socks, hair ties, wipes, snacks, and sunscreen. That way, I’m not running back upstairs for a missing bow or digging through drawers while the baby’s halfway into her car seat.

I hope these tips help you get out the door without a meltdown (from them or you)?
