MAKE UP FOR EVER HD Blush Swatches

Make Up For Ever has come out with new High Definition blushes.

A while ago, I had the opportunity to attend a Make Up For Ever event and I fell in love with these blushes immediately. They apply like second skin! I mean no streaking at all! They are made with oils, waxes and powders. Honestly when you put it on the feel like you have nothing on.

It can be worn to sculpt your cheekbones or as a blush.

I'm going to be honest- swatches do not do these blushes justice.
The pigmentation is amazing!

Apply them with your fingers and blend.

Up Close and Personal: Make Up For Ever Artisan Brushes

Every girl needs a great set of brushes. I always look for something that is high quality and made to last. How about some brushes that have been five years in the making?

Make Up For Ever has come out with a new line of artisan brushes.

If I had to think of two words to describe them- It would be sturdy and soft.

I decided to do this up close and personal post for anybody who is interested in the brushes
but just want to see a little bit more before they purchase.

fter five years in development with makeup artists and fiber experts, MAKE UP FOR EVER Artisan Brushes are a revolution in brush craftsmanship. The 100-percent fiber brushes are available in a range of 76 handcrafted styles, each with the perfect balance of straight and wavy fibers that replicate natural hairs. Beveled tips create a two-in-one makeup brush and tool, while innovative hair density and brush head shapes optimize every stroke for ideal makeup application. To achieve the ultimate collection, every brush has gone through 25 production stages by 30 craftsmen and has been checked for quality 50 times.

There are 76 brushes in the line and I have three:
106, 104 & 160.

104
Small Foundation Brush ($40.00 CAN)
Straight Fibers.
This is a flat brush that works well with liquid and cream products.
It has a tapered top and the bristles are not too dense.
I love using it to apply my MUFE HD foundation.

106
Medium Foundation Brush ($41.00 CAN)
Straight Fibers.
This is a rounded flat brush that can pick up powders, liquid and creams.
Similar to the 104 brush.
You can get a quicker application out of this brush because of it's size.

Comparison of the 106 on the left and the 104 on the right.
You can see the 106 has more bristles. That's why you can pick up powder products and it sticks.
The 104 is tapered around the edges. Which works well with the crevices of your face.

160
Blush Brush ($51.00 CAN)
Wavy & Straight Fibers.
This is a sculpted blush brush to be used with powder.
Perfect for the application of blush. You could probably do highlights with it as well.

I should note: These brushes are made out of synthetic fibers that mimic the
softness of natural hair brushes.

I also love the finish of the wooden ferrule.

Will you be picking up any of these brushes?

Make Up For Ever: Foundation Nation Event

I was so happy when I saw the invite for Make Up For Ever's Beauty Blogger brunch event. As a woman of colour, I know how hard it is to find the perfect foundation. I honestly feel like it's always a never-ending battle but that is slowly starting to change.

Most women of colour have to deal with skin issues such as discolouration. Which can make it difficult to find a good foundation.  When you have five different tones on your face,
which tone do you match to?!

Did you know that 73% of women have problems with finding right foundation.
That means that more than half of us are walking around with the wrong foundation!
YIKES!

At the event, we had the opportunity to speak to the amazing Troy Jensen about our skin issues. Troy has worked with many celebrities to give them their signature look.

Like Kim Kardashian's smoky bedroom eyes.

Troy gave me tips on how to get the perfect skin tone as a woman of colour.
Guess what the secret is!!

Colour correctors.

Not specifically the ones the greens and lavender(for me) but one that has an orange in it!

After the event, there were make up artists there to give us our own private foundation makeover. I loved the fact that I was given my own skin profile card to take with me! The skin profile card went over crucial things such as my skin type, my skin tone, my skin undertone and camouflage options (if I needed).

For anyone that's interested,
I was recommended the MUFE 5 Camouflage Cream Palette- No. 4 - for dark skin tones.

Each cream corrector was labelled by number.
Here is what was specifically used:
  • 20 under my eyes
  • 22 like darker areas like around my lips
For the whole face- Pro Finish in 177 was used.

I should also add that this look was done with their new artisan brushes!
Which are so soft. I will have a separate post on them soon.

Currently Obsessed- Make Up For Ever: Smoky Extravagant Mascara

I've been in mascara heaven lately!
So many great innovative formulas and brushes on the market.
Right now, I'm currently obsessed with Make Up For Ever: Smoky Extravagant Mascara!

I'm all about volume and length! Overall luscious lashes.
This mascara gives me all of this and more!
This mascara delivers long-lasting wear with no clumping in one stroke. Using 4D technology, an exclusive microdefining wax complex envelopes the lash surface in ultrablack pigments for far-away impact and up-close precision. The dual-purpose, cone-shaped brush has a precision tip that separates lashes as the rounded base creates extravagant volume from any distance.
Very rare to find a mascara that does everything it claims!
The shape of the brush is person. I can get the little lashes in the front and flare out my outer lashes.

Have you ever seen a brush like this?

Summer Makeup: Make up For Ever Aqua Creams

Summer is coming!
If you're like me it's hard to break away from the traditional black liners.

Time for me to play with more colour! Starting with the Make up For Ever aqua cream ($29.00) in 20 Intense Blue - bright blue sheen.

I love MUFE aqua creams because they are  versatile. You can use them alone, as a base or a liner.
Aqua Cream combines the highest-quality pigments with mother of pearl particles to give immediate rich color payoff with a luminous finish in just one application. Its long-lasting formulation will not crease or smudge under the most extreme conditions and its creamy and elastic texture allows for easy blending.
Ladies this product is perfect to add to your summer routine because it will last all day!

The formula is very pigmented and a little bit goes a long way.

I found out the hard way the first time I tried the creams and I had a whole bunch of product left over. Haha!

I should also add that this product gives you some playing around time before it "sets". Which is good if you make any mistakes. You can clean it off quite easily.

Have you tried any of the aqua creams before?

Summer Make up: Annabelle Cosmetics, Make up For Ever & Mark Cosmetics

I love summer makeup. It's so natural and dewy! Plus it doesn't take a lot of effort.

It's all about the BB cream. Why? Because it has good things such as SPF to shield your skin from UV rays. I will be honest there is a fine line between oily and dewy skin. If you find yourself on the oily side carry blotting paper with you. My favourites are from The Body Shop & Hard Candy.

To top of the skin I add a light rosy cheek using a cream blush. On my lips I tried out a new Mark Glossworks lipgloss. I will be reviewing it soon. It kind of applies like a liquid lipstick and it contains SPF15.

I try to use some waterproof products on my eyes. Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes makes a gorgeous gold eyeliner in “Gold 9L” that I used on my inner corners. It’s doesn't budge or smudge! I finished off the look by using Annabelle Cosmetics Expandable Mascara on my lashes.
