I made it! I have a 8 week old baby girl.
I'm so grateful that I was able to get EVERYTHING I needed for her before she arrived.
There a few products that honestly have gotten me through the month.
Truthfully- I don't know how I would have done it without these products!
Skin Care
Diaper duty
I know on Twitter I talked about getting a Diaper Genie. The verdict was split down the middle but it has been a godsend. Thankfully we got two at our shower! We have one upstairs in her nursery. Plus another downstairs on the main level where we keep her. On the hottest of hot days I don’t smell a thing.
Feeding
Let me start of by saying a FED baby is a happy baby! I will NEVER past any judgement on however you decide to feed your baby. As long as they’re gaining weight and thriving- you’re good! I’m not going to do the whole breast versus bottle debate. If you were pushed into a situation where a bottle is what you have to use....It’s good to have a few good brands behind you. I started off with the Tommee Tippee Pump and Go Complete Breast Milk Starter Set and bottles.
This set has everything you need if you decide to pump and store your breast milk. I applaud moms who decide to exclusively express fed their babies. It’s a lot of work. I pump four times a day and I feel like it’s not enough. Back to the set!
What you get:
1 x Breast Milk Warmer
1 x Storage Case
1 x Breast Pump Adaptor Set
2 x Breast Milk Pouch Bottles with slow flow nipples
20 x Breast Milk Pouches
1 x Closer to Nature 5oz baby bottle
2 x extra slow flow nipples
The idea to include a bottle warmer in the set is brilliant. The settings are super easy to read and I always get the right temperature for baby girl’s bottles. The only thing I would note is that it takes around 5 minutes to warm up. So make sure you have everything ready ahead of time. Just so you don’t have to deal with a screaming baby.
Another bottle option
Sleeping
Did you see my Halo bassinest post?
When I was in hospital, it was really important for me to use my own skin care products on baby girl. Especially in the early days. I did a lot of research and ending up picking: Live Clean Baby!
It’s vegan and super gentle on her skin. I have/tried almost everything from the line. I’d recommend trying their travel size kit. It was perfect for my hospital visit. My favourite product? The Non- Petroleum Jelly! I need a massive tub of that for Ava Rose!

Now on to the Tommee Tippee bottles that they sent me.
They have a real nipple look.
I heard that they’re coming out with a anti-colic bottle.
I’m totally interested in trying it.
If your baby has a small mouth like mine try the Dr. Brown's Natural Flow Bottles.
These bottles can be used with or without the vent system. Totally your choice! The vent is designed to help reduce feeding problems for babies (Colic and gas).
I always use the vent in my feedings. I love the fact that when Ava Rose is done with this nipple we can upgrade to stage 2 and we can keep the same 8oz bottle!

That’s definitely on my must have list for every new mom. I love having baby girl near me without being in the bed. As I stated in my original post- the upgraded bassinest has a light, music and vibration. It sounds unnecessary.... but trust me it’s totally worth it!
Have you used any of the products that I spoke about?

The Halo bassinest is truly a life saver! Great to find out about these other products. Thanks for sharing. Ava Rose is so blessed.
ReplyDeleteI've used both the Tommie Tippie and Dr. Brown's bottles. I'm going to be using both again depending on my son's needs. I was almost going to buy a bassinet but I think I'm going to skip it. Now if someone gets one for me I will not reject their gracious offer. Glad to hear you and baby are doing well!
ReplyDeleteWhen my two were born,I swore by the Dr. Brown bottles. Neither one of my kids had issues with digestion because of how the nipples are made. I love the lotion you mentioned. I also used Burts Bee as well because of the natural ingredients they used in their products. Congratulations on your bundle of joy!
