This year, I have added a few costly things to my life- New living arrangements, daycare, new car... need I go on? So I've had to cut back: no more lash extensions, no excessive eating out and no "new" clothing shopping. One thing I'm good at is saving!
Also these tips might seem random- If one out of 20 helps you (that makes me happy).
- Unsubscribe from emails that tempted to buy ANYTHING
Things like FREE shipping and 50% off are my weakness BUT we need to save in 2020 - Sign up for coupons that you actually need
Like toilet paper, cleaning supplies or food. - Use your gift cards
TREAT YOURSELF! - Shop at secondhand stores
You know how many with tags items are you come across?? It's crazy! - Shop at places that have a buy and sell counter
Some secondhand stores have this! I will admit you don't get as much as you hoped back BUT it's something! - Check online if item is cheaper and shop at places that price match
ToysRus, Buybuy Baby and Walmart price match! - Go through flyers to price match groceries in store they usually need a physical flyer
Actually take time to check out the flyers that come to your door or mailbox! - Check out blogs or review sites before you purchase
That search function is your best friend! - Do not buy anything on sale unless you’re 100% sure that you need the item
Because it's going to stay in the bag and your going to find it weeks later! - Cut up old cloths or towels to use as cleaning supplies
Maybe this is a Caribbean thing but it saves money! - Put your heating on the timer
If you’re not home in a day you do not need to have your heat on full blast - Use your washer/dryer/dishwasher at non-peak times
You will see the difference on your bill - Reduce your TV package.
We know you don’t watch all those channels! - Buy your gifts in January when things are much cheaper
Just hide them well! - Barter certain talents.
This one is tricky but try to make it as fair as possible! - go out on date nights are girls nights where the restaurants are giving out the best deals.
For example... If wings are cheap on Wednesday do it on Wednesday! - Shop around.
This is one thing that I’m super good at! - Also shop at places with a good/fair return policy.
7 days is not enough time! A month is better! - Make your lunch instead of buying
I know it's not as fun but your pockets will thank you. - If your not using it PLUG it out!
Self explanatory

Great tips! I'm a big fan of the old t shirts as rags, my dad always did it and they are great for mirrors. I love the flipp app for price matching. You never know when you realize you need something and you can find it quickly in someone else's flyer
ReplyDeleteThese are great tips. I really need to clear out my emails/subscriptions! Thanks for the reminder.
ReplyDeleteI concur with everything on this list!!! I'm all about buying things of season and not having cable!!!

ReplyDeleteCutting up or using old clothes to clean is definitely Caribbean. My entire family does it and so so I (Jamaican).Repurposing left overs is another idea. Old rice and left over chicken with some vegetables and the right seasoning can become a delicious stir fry.
ReplyDeleteThese are some great tips. What saved me the most money last year was meal planning weekly. By mealing planning on doing my grocery shopping with grocery pickup I was able to slash my grocery budget down to $100 per week for a family of 5.
