World Mastercard Toronto Fashion Week: Pink Tartan Backstage Maybelline Beauty

Pink Tartan will always have a place in my heart because it was the first Fashion Show I've ever seen.

I absolutely adore this look.
Those lips are fabulous!
In the words of  Maybelline Canada’s head makeup artist, Grace Lee:
"This girl looks REALLY expensive"
Eyes:
Light gold dusted eyes
+
Skin:
Dewy
+
Lips:
Blood Red

World Mastercard Toronto Fashion Week: Backstage Maybelline Beauty Pavoni

If you're into bold looks this day would defiantly be for you!
The Pavoni makeup look was all about the eyes!

Theme:
"Glam girls gone a bit Goth"

 To get the look:
Red lipstick on the eye up the way up pass the crease to the brows.
Black liner under the eye & on the lid.
Finish off with a nude glossy lip.

I love that picture!
The Redken team did a great job with the Pavoni hair.
The look was a left part with a corn roll along the front hair line.
Lastly, the hair was twisted back.

This hairstyle can easily be taken off the runway into everyday life.

Products Used:
Fabricate 03
Power Grip 02
Fashion Works 12
Shine Flash 02

Stay tuned for coverage of Pink Tartan & David Dixon!

Backstage Maybelline Beauty Holt Renfrew- World Mastercard Toronto Fashion Week:

I cannot explain how grateful I am that I attended Toronto Fashion Week backstage courtesy of Maybelline. I've always been a fan of their products and I'm excited that they choose me to be apart of their experience. Hands down one of the best things I've EVER done in my life. I got to meet a lot of amazing people & talk about fashion/beauty.  I took a lot of pictures throughout the day.
Join me as I break down the hair & makeup looks from the past week.

Day One:
Holt Renfrew
Look#2
This look was ALL about the Strong Brow & Nude Lips.
Baby Lips in Peppermint & Peach Kiss were very popular backstage.

Maybelline Canada’s head makeup artist, Grace Lee used the Unstoppable eyeliner in Espresso to create an over extended brow.

Grace Lee explained:
"Glossy black lids add to the edginess and a neutral lip supports her carefree sensibility".

Look #2
 To get the look:
Eye studio master drama eyeliner in midnight was used on the lids.
Then smudged with clear gloss to get the rock star effect!

Loved the looks!
Stay tuned for my next post.

Maybelline Color Tattoo Review (Guest Post)

I have been on the hunt for a drugstore cream shadow that can be used as a base (much like a Mac paint pot) for ages. I have tried every cream shadow Shoppers Drugmart has to offer. These cream shadows are okay but they never truly stand up to my day-to-day lifestyle. I don’t live in a major metropolis so when I want to visit a Mac or a Sephora store I am looking at a good hour and a half to two-hour drive.

Which is why the other day I got very excited when I came a crossed a display in my local Shoppers. This display was very intriguing. Not unlike most of you I hadn’t heard anything about Maybelline Color Tattoo Eyeshadows. These little pots looked just like the Benefit creaseless eyeshadow packaging and felt a lot like a Make Up Forever aqua cream. I automatically pulled out my iPhone and Googled this these little beauty, but much to my surprise there wasn’t anything on the Internet that could help me.

So I did what any savvy beauty-loving girl would do. I bought three. There were nine colours to choose from at my Shoppers Drugmart.

05 – Too Cool (matte white)
10- Fierce & Tangy (matte tangerine orange)
20- Painted Purple (shimmery lilac purple)
25 – Bad to the Bronze (shimmery bronze)
30- Pomegranate Punk (shimmery burgundy)
35- Tough as Taupe (matte grayish beige)
40- Tenacious Teal (shimmery aqua blue)
45- Bold Gold (shimmery gold)
50- Edgy Emerald (matte moss green)

Left to Right (50 – Pomegranate Punk, 35- Tough as Taupe, 45 – Bold Gold)

I decided to go with Pomegranate Punk, Tough as Taupe and Bold Gold. When it comes to new cosmetics I like to play it safe. The first thing I can tell you is this product has a nice consistency. Its soft and creamy but dries to a powder-like finish. The colours are in the collection are very wearable and yet Maybelline seemed to have a bit of fun also. For me the true test of any cream shadow is how it applies. With most drugstore shadows you are stuck using your finger for application. Which is fine but if you want a precise look it ends up looking a bit messy. The Maybelline Color Tattoo shadows have the ability to be used with a brush as well as finger application.

Left side finger swatched, Right side brush swatched

When it comes down to wearability I put this product to the test at the two jobs I work at. The one was wearability at an office and the other was wearability at a restaurant. In an office setting this eyeshadow worked rather well as a base or as an all over lid colour. There was minimal creasing and the colour stayed true throughout my 8-hour day. As for at the restaurant when I am a waitress, this shadow was only good as a base. As an all over lid colour it started to run and crease near the heat lamps unless it was set with a powder eyeshadow. I also found that the one matte shade (Tough as Taupe) I purchased had a better staying power that the other two shimmery colours.

All in all seeing as this is a drugstore product that costs $9.99 and I don’t have to take a crazy road trip to get it. I’d give the product 8/10. I deducted a point for the fact that most of the shades are shimmery (I would have liked to see more matte shades and in lighter colours). I also deducted a point for the intolerance to heat (I would not wear this as an all over lid colour to a club).

My April Favorites

From left to right:
  1.  Ecotools is a eco friendly product that is inexpensive. This is from the 6 piece brush kit. The blush brush is super soft & good for the environment :)
  2.  Maybelline XXL 24 hour mascara. This mascara builds volume on my lashes and lasts a long time without flaking on my lower lid.
  3. Mac Lustre Drops in Sun Rush. The ultimate highlighter for EVERY skintone. This is a peachy bronze with gold pearl.. gorg!
  4. Maybelline Studio Gel Liner in Blackest Black. This is amazing! The staying power is crazy, I use mine as a base. I kid you not I can go through a whole day without it budging! Wooo
  5. Balmshell Lipgloss in Shopaholic. Super fab & Canadian! Click Here to read my previous review.

Maybelline EyeStudio Kit - Spiced Beauty Look

I'm super lucky to have been picked by Matchstick to receive the entire line of Maybelline EyeStudio!

It came with:
  • A Huge Train case
  • 12 Colour Plush Ready to Wear Palettes,
  • 10 Colour Pearls Marbleized Eye Shadows,
  • 4 Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliners
  • 4 XXL Pro Mascaras
I know most of you have your mouth wide open and you wanna win the whole kit RIGHT?!?! Well after reading my post click here and vote for my look :) * It takes up to 48 hours for my look to be uploaded.

The look I created is called Spiced Beauty!

  1. I started off with Eye Studio Gel Liner in Eggplant as a base.
  2. I used the dark side of Eye Studio Color Pearls Marbleized Eyeshadow in Carbon Frost on the lower lid.
  3. I blended Eye Studio Color Pearls Marbleized Eyeshadow in Sinful Sinnamon with Bronze Blow out into my crease.
  4. I used a very small amount of Eye Studio Color Pearls Marbleized Eyeshadow Bronze Blowout (the light side as a highlight) on my brow bone.
  5. To make my inner eyes pop I used the light side of Eye Studio Color Pearls Marbleized Eyeshadow in Carbon Frost.
  6. I lined my eyes with  Eye Studio Gel Liner in Blackest Black
  7. Finish off with the XXL Pro Mascara on upper and lower lash line

Eye Studio Color Pearls Marbleized Eye shadows are very pigmented and come in a lot great shades. My favorite is Carbon Frost. I love the silver flecks.

The gel liner is very smooth and durable!  Yes durable they last long!! I was under bright light all night and they didn't crease, so I recommend using them as bases as well.
