Five Pieces to Add to your Fall Wardrobe

Fall is here! I'm literally swimming in pumpkin spice and crunchy leaves. LOL! I love that the weather changing gives us an excuse to shop for some Fall clothes too! Cooler temperatures and that hint of winter wind nipping at us has me online buying staple Fall pieces.

It's been a while since we talked Fashion.
Let me share some of my favourites!

Spring is here: Let's talk Mindset, Beauty and Fashion

Spring is here. Although it doesn’t feel like it in Ontario, Canada because we are on a stay-at-home order. BUT it doesn’t mean that you can’t dress up for yourself. I know it’s better said then done! If you see me... six out of seven days... I literally look like I rolled out of bed.
Perks of working from home! But I am on a mission to change that!

Glam days at least three times a week LOL... okay let's say two!

How to Choose the Best Nude Lipstick for Dark Skin

Nowadays, the beauty industry has come a long way with its inclusivity. It’s gotten easier to find complexion products that fit a range of skin types, and dark skin tones are finally getting the attention it deserves. Finding nude lipstick for my dark skin tone used to be a STRUGGLE. The colours were always way too light and I would end up looking so dry and ashy. I’m talking powdered doughnut looking lips y’all....no ma’am, not cute at all. If you know what I’m talking about, then you have a wider variety of rich colour options available now that will compliment your complexion and make your lips look gorgeous. Follow this ONE tip for choosing the best nude lipstick for your beautiful skin tone!

Know your Undertone...that’s it!

How to Buy Your Next Pair of Walking Shoes

Let’s talk about shoes! And no, I don’t mean those 6 Inch heels you bought years ago that are collecting dust in your closet! Oh.. No- It is just me *sigh* I’m talking about comfortable, everyday shoes. They are an essential part of any wardrobe and they should most definitely be front and centre in yours! I used to be a flats/sandals girl but my husband totally changed that.

We’re on what- week 365 of quarantine here! I have done through every emotion there is.
I like to go on walks with my husband and daughter before dinner. I usually complain about going but end up loving it in the end. Last week, I left the house in my slides. Cute but definitely not for long distance. Wearing the wrong shoe can really put a damper on what you're doing! Like when Ava doesn’t want to get into her stroller and I’m literally running down the street to get her in. Our feet are such an important part of our bodies and we need to make sure we are really taking care of them.

So the next time you go shoe shopping remember to keep these tips in mind so that your next pair is comfy!

Fashion: Seasonal Transition Pieces

I hope that you guys of all recovered from the holiday madness. I’m trying my best to get better from a cold (sad face). I have a question for you! How do you transition your clothes to be workable for all seasons? For example, you’re not going to wear a skirt in -40 below weather... Yes that was actually the weather here two weeks ago. Canadian problems!

Here are four key pieces everyone should have in their closet

Long Kimono Dusters
These are literally something that I wear 24/7- 365 days. They’re comfortable and can be found almost anywhere. You can get them in a variety of sleeve types! I have no sleeves, short sleeves, 3/4 sleeves and of course long sleeved. You can easily dress it up by wearing your favourite little black dress or even a one-piece jumper. Appropriate for all seasons! Check out Nordstrom for some unique pattern pieces like this one.

Any advice on how to confidently sport a new lip colour?
I think the key is to just wear it and not care about what anyone else thinks.

Do you have a favourite WOC red or pink lipstick moment?
That Rihanna’s striking red lip from the PFW 2014 Christian Dior show was the bomb.

Valentine's Day Red Lips

I love this lip color because I asked Drew Barrymore what colour would she choose for me and she chose Rosebud! Coincidentally, it was in my gift bag.

It's the perfect red for every skin tone.
Plus it would be an amazing bridal or Valentine's day colour!

Are you wearing your right size?

Hope my title got your attention! I was recently contacted by Triumph (lingerie company) with some interesting stats and useful information.

It’s the bra’s 100th anniversary this year, and Triumph discovered 76% of the world’s women are still wearing the wrong size bra.

I believe that percentage. In my opinion, it's hard for some women to find a bra size at times because our bodies are always changing. We gain/lose weight, hormones, pregnancy and after child birth.

I can wear a certain size at H&M and go into The Bay and get a totally different size. It's annoying but we need to come to a realization that something has to change.

Here are 5 sure signs that you're wearing the incorrect bra size:
  1. Your underwire is sticking out.
  2. You’re overflowing out of your cup.
  3. The center of your bra does not rest on your skin.
  4. The cups are sagging or baggy.
  5. You’re in pain.
Triumph is challenging the world’s women to ‘Stand Up for Fit’ in 2014 to get more out of their inner and outer fashions.

I know that someone who reads this has their head down in shame. I think it's time to visit a Bra Fitting Stylist. Think of them as your fairy God"Bra"mother.

To book a personal fitting with an expert Triumph Bra Stylist at select Hudson’s Bay locations, email: bra.fittings.ca@triumph.com. Please let me know how it goes!

Good Luck!

Fashion: Tribal Batwing Sweater

Have you ever seen an article of clothing on somebody else and really wanted it. I remember seeing a girl shopping in this amazing tribal print open front sweater. She paired it with a tank, leggings and thigh high boots. It was so cute!

I was contacted by Rosewholesale, while searching the site- I seen a similar sweater in cream! I had to have it.

If you're not familiar with the site they are:

A leading international online fashion clothing store. Focusing on the very latest in affordable fashion style, both attire and accessories, we provide thousands of the latest in chic product lines, to give maximum choice to our discerning clientele. We aim to provide an extensive range of high quality, trendy fashion clothing – not only at the lowest prices, but also with a professional dedicated service to our valued customers from all over the world.
Since it's cold outside, I focused on sweaters (they have over 700 styles!).
Plus they have a lot of cute tops and dresses that I would definitely add to my wardrobe.

The sweater I chose:
  • Oversized (can be worn with a belt)
  • Thick & Warm
  • Over universal size
I just have to remember to hand wash it..or it will shrink in the dryer.

There is a lot to view on the site. It totally easy to get overwhelmed and want to buy everything.
My tip would be sort by price, read the reviews and be aware of shipping costs from your country!

Must haves for Fall- Glasses

I love fall fashion/ make up. Rich tones such as ox blood & cedar browns excite me. What is your ultimate fall makeup look? Mine would be a wine coloured lips and black liner for drama. BUT! You know you can’t have the look without the clothing and accessories.

One quick way and easy way to change up your look is by switching up your glasses! One of my favourite online glasses retailers www.clearlycontacts.ca has some great styles which would look great on anyone this Fall.

First, let me start of by saying online shopping for glasses is a unique experience. When I got my first pair from them last year- I had no issues. Mind you it was my second pair- so I totally knew what to expect. I found a pair that I loved and knew it would fit my face shape/nose. I then entered the details exactly as how they appeared on my prescription from my eye doctor. Filled out other necessary information any and they were at my door in no time.

Dsquared spotted red brown

Marc by Marc Jacobs Black Crystal

Each of them unique and the perfect “must have” this season!

Trends: Skater Dresses

If I could wear a dress everyday I would.
I love how flirty & feminine they are.
Now a-days there are so many styles to choose from maxi, midi, mini or bodycon- the list goes on.

One dress style that looks good on everyone is the skater style.

The fit and flare of a skater dress works with all body types.
It has a fitted bodice and (at times) a pleated or full skirt.

You can also play it up with a cute belt or add a cute chunky necklace.

Are you feeling the skater dress trend?

Walmart George -Fall Preview 2013

My first encounter with George Clothing was back in 1999. On my first trip to an ASDA store in Manchester, England. I remember high quality products with affordable pricing.

Fast forward to 2013! Nothing has changed.

I had the opportunity to view the George Preview for Fall 2013.
This fall at your local Walmart, you can get your hands on fab prints, metallics and studs!

All items that I would definitely add to my Fall wardrobe.

BIC Soleli® Shave & Trim + My H&M swimwear suggestions for your body type

I know I say this in every post but summer is coming! Vacation, pool parties & BBQs.
You know that time for smooth legs and bikini area.

A recent survey of female adults by BIC® developing premium disposable shavers that meet the needs of women – reveals that nearly 50% of Canadian women hate bathing suit shopping (only 7% said they loved bathing suit shopping).*
I am in that 50% that hate it!

To help women transition into the new season AND into bathing suits with confidence,  BIC® Soleli® has come out with a new product called the Shave and Trim. It's a 2-n-1 disposable shaver that allows women to groom all body parts, including the most sensitive spots, with one product.

Bic has also partnered with Allison Ethier, Canadian Fitness Champion, Nutrition Consultant and Model to encourage all Canadian women to celebrate self-confidence and set their bathing suit

I decided to pair Allison's suggestions with some swimwear from my favourite retail store: H&M!

STRAIGHT
“Straight with very few curves, this body type is small all over and needs a swimsuit to add volume and curves to the waist, butt and hips. Great one piece options include cut-out sides, strapless with ruching at the top and moulded cups or inserts for added lift. For bikinis, look for a halter or V-shaped top and a bottom with fun side ties to add volume to the hips.”

My pick ($34.95):
Size 4 to 14
Fully lined, bandeau style swimsuit with an open back, a zip with a tooth-shaped pendant at the front, support panels, and a silicone trim at the top.

PEAR
“Pear shape body types have an overall smaller upper body and are larger on the bottom. To add balance and create a more symmetrical shape, ‘pin-up girl’ style onepiece swimsuits are a fantastic option; look for something with a plunging neckline or ruffles around the top to draw the eye upward. For two-piece swimsuits, a skirt-style bottom works well with a top of the same colour. Go for a darker shade for a slimming effect!”

My Pick ($14.95)
Sizes 4 to 14
Fully lined bikini bottoms with gathers at the sides.

CURVY/HOURGLASS
“Curvy/hourglass shaped women are generally looking for support and coverage in a bathing suit. Try to avoid one-piece suits altogether as this tends to create a boxy look. Go for a top that has seaming under the bust; V-shape, halter or one-shoulder are all great options for added support. Darker bottoms in a solid colour or small pattern work to balance out your figure".

My Pick ($29.95)
Size 4 to 14
Lined, padded bikini top with beaded embroidery at the front, ties at the neck with beads on the ends, and a metal fastener at the back. Support panels at the sides and a silicone trim at the top.

ATHLETIC SHAPE
“For women with an athletic shape, look for a swimsuit that has more feminine cuts and details to balance out a less curvy figure. Anything with ruching, detail, and tapered bottoms in the back will give a curvier appearance.”

My Pick ($19.95)
Size 4 to 14
Lined triangle bikini top with moulded cups with extra padding, gathers at the front, and wide ties at the neck and back.

APPLE SHAPED
“Apple shaped women tend to hold weight in the mid-section, with thinner arms and legs. To add definition to the waist, a one-piece swimsuit with a cute belt is a great option. Also try colour blocking on the sides, which creates the look of a more defined waist. For two-piece suits, try a halter or deep V shape to bring the eye upward, with an empire bottom to accentuate the waistline.”

My pick ($34.95):
Sizes 4 to 14
Fully lined bandeau-style swimsuit with metal decorations, detachable ties at the neck and a silicone trim around the top.
