World MasterCard Toronto Fashion Week: Vawk/Vawkkin & Express

I love this picture!
It was done with a back light with no flash. I wasn't sure how it would come out but it's gorgeous!

Enjoy these various shots I took of the Redken & Maybelline team doing their thing!

EXPRESS comes to Canada!

This post brought to you by Express. All opinions are 100% mine.

Ladies! Have you heard? Express Canada is here! My boyfriend and I would always make a note to visit their stores whenever we were in USA. Last time we went they had a great sale and he came out with five ties! Now that they are local, we don't have to do the two hour drive.

Incase this is the first time your hearing about EXPRESS, let me give you some background:
Express is the must-have sexy, sophisticated fashion brand for work, the weekend, or going out. It’s what’s new and what’s now for young fashion-forward women and men.
Currently the closest location to me is Fairview Mall but they will be opening an Eaton Centre location on November 21st. Super exciting! Here is an invite to their Grand Opening event. Don't forget to try your luck and enter the $1000 shopping spree. Here is the contest entry form.

I also had the opportunity to attend the EXPRESS Fashion show at Toronto Fashion Week last friday. They wowed the crowd with their Holiday line. I took a lot of pictures to share with you all!

For men, the sleek and tailored look is in.
I loved it! Very clean and sexy.
Express Mens

For the ladies, it was all about the soft and delicate pieces.
It totally made me want to step up my wardrobe!

Here are my top three wants from the show that I can't wait to wear:

  • Coloured Denim
Everything this model wore I wanted!
I'd never grativate toward blue coloured denim but after seeing it on her skin tone. I must have it!
  • High Neck top with stripes
I'm in love with this combo. Did you know that thin stripes can make your body look elongated?
  • Peplum Dress
We already know why I love this! Any tummy issue you have are banished with this dress.
I had such a great time at the show. Look out for my upcoming EXPRESS posts. For now, I'll leave you with more great shots from the show!

Halloween: imPRESS Press-On Manicure

Just because I'm in my 20's that doesn't mean that I can't go all out for Halloween!
I know I can't dress up.. well maybe I can.
I'm 5'2.. probably the size of a fourth grader..haha!

imPRESS nails came out with a
limited edition Halloween Collection!
Do you remember my previous imPRESS nails post?

  • No drying time
  • Superior, lasting shine
  • Easy removal
  • Lasts up to a week
One of their greatest selling points is the fact that you can find a design which suits your personality!
If you're like me and works in a corporate office, these nails would definitely get you into the spirit of Halloween.

Each nail has the opportunity to be a different design.

I have a lengthy nail bed and these nails were very long on me.
You can cut and file these down to a length that works best on you.
Note: The imPRESS collection is not as long as the Halloween collection.

These nails are really fun!

What are you doing for Halloween?

World MasterCard Fashion Week: Joe Fresh

I can not explain how much I LOVE this picture!
Her makeup, hair, look and expression is amazing!
For day three of World MasterCard Fashion Week, I decided to check out Joe Fresh.

The look was very fresh with a pop of color. My favourite part was the lip! Grace Lee explained the lips as "It's a little bit on the matte side but we wanted it to look like chalk". She then applied translucent powder over the lipstick. Check out the get the look below:

The look was a simple but elegant low ponytail. Jorge Joao shared with me the best way to get perfect ponytail, "Directional blowdrying. Tie it off and it will fall easily in place".
Joe Mimran of Joe Fresh making some last minute touches to the look.

Close up of the ponytail from the back.

World MasterCard Fashion Week: Holt Renfrew, Pink Tartan & Pavoni

World MasterCard Fashion Week kicked off to a great start. Designers from day 1 were Holt Renfrew, Pink Tartan & Pavoni. I was able to go backstage and get the scoop from Grace Lee, lead makeup artist Maybelline New York Canada and Jorge Jao, Redken's Lead Artist on the looks/inspiration for the show.

Holt Renfrew
Holt Renfrew decided to do something different this time around. They decided to make their collection based on what is available this season! Basically you could shop what you want off the runway. The look is wearable for everyday. Nothing over the top or overly glam. Grace Lee calls it "The Holt Renfrew it girl" look.
Cat eyes mascara
Expert wear eyeshadow Nutmeg & Taupe
Gel liner
Fit me foundation
Darker fit me power for contour
Color Whispers Mocha Muse

Pink Tartan
Pink Tartan's look was all about the girl. Natural and effortless. Bare nails, lips and face. Best part about it, Grace did most of the look with her hands. I also spotted the Beauty blender sponge!

I love this picture I took of Supermodel Charlotte Free getting her makeup done by Grace for the Pink Tartan Show. How cute is her pink hair!
BB cream
Boucy blush- coffee cake pink plum
Baby lips as a highlight, eye lids and lips
Eye Brows
Great Lash clear mascara
Define a brow pencil
Color Whispers Peddle Rebel

The lashes are curled in three steps: Root, middle & tips.

I think Pink Tartan had my favourite hair because it's something that I can do!
Jorge Jao, Redken's Lead Artist described it as "Very Playful, very natural with texture."
We created a dramatic left side part and pinned up with side sweep. Then we added texture with a 11/4 inch curling iron, setting it with Iron Shape 11 and applying the iron shape into each section, and then spiral-wrapping vertically using big sections. Then we worked our way around the head spraying Shine Flash 02 into our hands and raking through the waves to create a beachy-type texture. We finished the look with Wax Blast 10.
Here is Charlotte Free's finished look with hair & makeup.

We created a foundation at the crown of the head and then wrapped textured pieces around the foundation to give us a textured buffant with a left side part.

I had the opportunity to be seated by Maybelline for the Pavoni show. I was honestly blown away. My pictures do not do the collection ANY justice. Check out the video:

Givenchy & Fendi Fall 2012

Have you ever had the opportunity to be inside a Sephora before it opened to the public?
 I have!

I recently got the scoop on the new products for Fall 2012 from Givenchy & Fendi!
Remember my Givenchy: Noir Couture 4 in 1 Mascara review?
It made my lashes very elongated and curled like a dream.
After that I knew I had to check our their full line.

A demo was done on the model using some of the Fall 2012 products.
I loved the end product. Her look was wearable for the day and the night.

We also got the low down on some of the new scents of Givenchy!
Dahlia Noir Eau de Parfum is definitely an amazing fall scent.
Strong & feminine at the same time. Perfect for a date or girl's night out.

 New Products:
  • Hydra Sparkling Magic Lip & Cheek Balm
  • Noir Couture 4 in 1 Mascara
  • Dahlia Noir Eau de Parfum
  • Mister Perfect Instant Makeup Eraser High Definition

Dinner with OPI's Suzi Weiss-Fischmann

I recently had the opportunity to do something amazing.
I had dinner with Suzi Weiss-Fischmann!

Suzi Weiss-Fischmann is OPI's Executive Vice President and Artistic Director. For two hours, a table full of Canadian Beauty bloggers and I talked about the wonderful world of nail polish. It was amazing!

Honestly, I am so grateful for the opportunities that I get through Spiced Beauty. Whenever I am unsure about my career path, I  meet strong, educated and accomplished women like Suzi. Believe it or not, it’s moments like this which keep me going.

Suzi was everything that I expected her to be! She was extremely knowledgeable and honest. She had an answer for everything. Check out some of her insights below:
  • Hottest color for the Holidays: Glitter
  • Hottest color for the Spring: Pastels
  • Colors that we should look for in 2013: Deep Blues & Yellows
  • Transporting nail polish: ALWAYS put them in a ziplock bag
  • Manicures in the office: Wear what you want! Add glitter to tone down a polish.
  • Top three manicures must haves: Axoplex Cuticle Oil, Drip Dry & Top Coat
 The Kardashian Line up close:

We also got to take see and take home:
Nicole by OPI Selena Gomez collection.
Glitter, confetti, pearls and pastels... need I say more!
These lacquers are available January 2013.
I will be posting the swatches soon!

Are you a glitter, confetti, pearls and pastel fan?

How do you set your make up?

On each of my past visits to IMATS, I've always came home with something new.
I'm always looking for ways to make my make up last longer.
Liquid setting sprays are becoming very popular lately.

After using your setting powder, spray this on top to great a smudge-proof and sweat resistant barrier. These featured above are my "theatre" sprays. They are much stronger than the others that I have in my kit.

Have you ever used a liquid setting spray before?

Fight Bacteria with GoSwipe

I'm obsessed with my phone, I bring it everywhere! I swear it's like a third limb to me.
If I forget it, I'm feel completely empty.. Haha!

You would never believe how many germs are currently your phone. I once read an article stating that your phone as the same amount of germs as a toilet seat.

Think about that..

You put it near your mouth daily. With Fall/Winter rolling around this is something that should be taken seriously! I was pitched a product called GoSwype for my phone:

Its a microfiber cleaning cloth
-Kills up to 98% of germs and bacteria
-Removes finger prints oils and dirt
-Comes in cute prints

Ladies who wear foundation daily, you may have realized that one size of your face breaks out more than the other.

Have you considered your phone as a culprit? These come in a reusable sleeve so that they don't get contaminated. I'm soooo sorry to gross you all out but these are some important things to think about this fall/winter season.
Do you clean your phone daily?

New products from Korres Fall 2012

Korres is a beauty brand that makes some amazing skin products. Everything in the line is made of organic and natural ingredients. These products are gentle on the skin and can be found in select Shoppers Drug Mart and Sephora stores. I honestly feel like there is something for everyone in the line.

Check out what's in store for Korres this Fall:

  • KORRES® Pomegranate Mattifying Treatment, abreathable, oil absorbing formula that instantly fills in pores leaving the skin with a smooth, even, matte finish while minimizing the appearance of pores throughout the day.
  • KORRES® Pomegranate Purifying Natural Clay Mask, deeply cleanses and tones the skin, tightening pores and absorbing oil.
  • KORRES® Pomegranate Toner purifies the skin’s surface, minimizes the look of pores and helps to reduce the appearance of redness, while leaving the skin feeling soft and fresh.

KORRES® Wild Rose + Vitamin C Advanced Brightening Sleeping Facial, weightless soufflé texture made with Vitamin C and Wild Rose Oil, works while you sleep to renew dull, tired skin by morning. It melts instantly into the skin to re-texturize skin for smooth skin by morning.

  • KORRES® Wild Rose Daily Brightening & Refinishing Buff Cleanser, a gentle yet effective exfoliating cleanser enriched with Wild Rose oil, clinically proven to improve skin’s overall radiance and texture with daily use.
  • KORRES® Wild Rose Instant Eye Brightening Treatment, a cream formulated with Wild Rose oil in combination with yeast, ruscus and horsechestnut extracts. This formulation helps to add radiance and rejuvenation to the delicate eye area, while minimizing the appearance of dark circles and fine lines.

I've been using these three products daily for a few weeks and my skin is amazing!
Check out my regimen:
  • Start off with the KORRES® Wild Rose Daily Brightening & Refinishing Buff Cleanser. It's reminds me of a facial cream with light exfoliating beads. I get no irritation on my skin from using it daily.
  • Then twice a week I tone using KORRES® Pomegranate Toner. It's light so you can use it daily.
  • Lastly, here is my favourite step: KORRES® Pomegranate Mattifying Treatment. I'm definitely a "matte" girl. I'm not one for the "dewy" face look on me. This product keeps my t-zone under control. I wish I had this product this summer. It would have truly saved me!
Is there anything from the line that you would like to try?
